Editing and Stupidity

As strange as this might sound, one of my favorite ways to de-stress is to watch an episode of MTV's famous hit show "The Hills." For those who have never seen it, the show follows the life of protagonist "LC" (Lauren Conrad) and her friends (depending on the day) Whitney, Audrina, and Heidi as they gallivant around Los Angeles. The reason I love this show, is to allows me to remove my mind from the constant tragedies and horrific images on the news and watch something light and superficial. The show rarely, if ever, discusses any serious topics and unfortunately portrays the girls as complete airheads. I was dumbfounded by the extent of how ridiculous the show can get and according to many sources, most of the shots are fake. I could never understand why the girls never have normal conversations that sound natural and flowing and until I watched the deleted scenes, I thought they didn't know how to talk normally. The DVD features several deleted scenes where the viewer can actually see that they are not as stupid as they are portrayed on the show. It seems that the MTV editing crew cuts the conversations in such a way to add so much unnecessary drama and makes the girls look pathetic. If anyone wants a glimpse into a more "realistic" version of their lives...watch the deleted scenes.
